Welcome to the Parents Home Page!
My name is Dr. Debra Faust, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, and I plan to write updates for this page about every six weeks. Most of my information will be coming from the student life perspective outside of academics, although if something comes up in academics that I think you would like to know, I will include it. Most of us are bombarded with information, so I do not plan on overloading you. I’ll write this in bullet form, so you can just glance at it and be “in the know.”
As you may have heard, Shorter experienced another year with record enrollment which means growth pains. Half of our student body are commuters, which has greatly impacted parking. To help accommodate all the cars, Shorter offers shuttle service from Bass Village to the top of the hill--about twice an hour. After 2:00 in the afternoon, Bass residents can park their cars in the commuter lots.

Parent's Association
Welcome to the Parents Association. As the parent of a Shorter student, you are now a member of this new organization. The Association has put together the following links for the benefit of parents. It is designed to represent the variety of services and resources available at Shorter and to provide the academic calendar, as well as information on local establishments. If there is additional information you would find helpful, please feel free to contact the appropriate personnel listed or call the Office of Parents Programs, (706) 233-7341.
The Parents Association, under the leadership of the Parents Council, sponsors a variety of activities. Family & Friends Day will be held early in the semester. Watch for details coming soon from the Office of Student Affairs. In addition to Family and Friends Day, the Parents Association is involved in admission, career development, and fund-raising activities.
It is a pleasure having you a part of the Shorter family. We look forward to having you visit the campus and take part in the numerous activities that make life at Shorter special and unique for you and your student.
Cordially,
Suzanne Scott

Office of Institutional Advancement
The Parents Fund is an unrestricted annual fund for parents that supports the undergraduate college. Gifts to the Parents Fund are used by the college to assist Shorter students who are in need of additional scholarship aid. If hardships arise, these funds can offer additional tuition support for these students. The Parents Fund is part of the Shorter Fund. The Parents Fund is directed by the Office of Institutional Advancement and the Shorter College Parents Association.
The Parents Fund Campaign runs from June 1 through May 31. Gifts can be made to the fund by cash, credit card, securities, or real property. The Shorter Fund national phonathon tries to reach all parents during the fall. All gifts are personally acknowledged by the College and all donors are recognized by name every year in the Honor Roll of Donors.
