"Shorter Clubs" are being developed in select cities throughout the United States to ensure an ongoing passion, dedication and pride in Shorter University.
Shorter alumni live all over the nation and in many foreign countries. Many keep in touch with one another and with the university through the Clubs program.
Clubs bring together alumni of the traditional and professional programs, parents of students, and friends of the university for:
- Cultural events
- Sports outings
- Social activities
- Community service projects
- Online communication through shorter.edu
- Conversations with President Newman and various Shorter professors
Clubs typically:
- Sponsor educational programs for alumni and community
- Plan activities that encourage fellowship among alumni and friends of Shorter
- Welcome new alumni and new students to the local Shorter community
- Help recruit outstanding high school students for admissions
- Sponsor alumni in local community service projects
- Strive to increase public awareness of Shorter in the local community
- Aid in placing students and graduates with local businesses during vacations and after graduation
- Support the university's fund-raising activities
